Fire Retardant Processing
Protection against fire is becoming increasingly in demand by consumers and legislative authorities. Domestic fires start in many ways but once started one of the most dangerous articles in the home is a hanging curtain that, by its very nature and position, is very likely to make the fire spread. The correct fire retardant treatment can prevent this happening.
There are three quite different processes available to make your fabrics resistant to fire.
- Supersoft Suede FR and Thermo Suede FR give the fabric protection against fire through a special type of Coating whilst maintaining most of the soft handle that our product is noted for.
Formal tests on this product in a certified test laboratory have shown it to pass Australian Standard 1530 parts II and III, British Standard 5438 and USA standard 701 and French standard M1.
- The European standard of M1, whicqqh reuires a higher level of fire protection, can be produced at a slightly higher cost
- FR Fabric Treatment gives protection against fire without having to apply a Supersoft Suede coat. The treatment adds about 12% to the weight of the fabric without markedly changing the handle. There is, of course, a slight change.
The treated fabric cannot be washed as the treatment is water soluble. However it can be dry cleaned.
Formal tests on this product have also shown it to pass the same strict Australian Standard tests
